Charging your drone with solar power is now possible thanks to the external 12V or USB-C Power Delivery batteries.
Combined with your Powertec solar charger, you become autonomous to film outdoors for longer.
The Powertec solar chargers are designed for outdoor professionals and allow charging of all electronic devices from smartphones to laptops in open spaces or in a non-electrified habitat. The equipment is light, compact, robust and highly efficient.
How to chose you drone solar charger ?
First of all, you need to define your drone’s needs and power consumption (voltage).
Indeed, drones operate at different voltages depending on the device. Most of them still charge on a 12V cigarette lighter socket
Next, you need to choose the battery capable of charging / powering your drone.
Indeed, the solar charger has the function of recharging your external battery in an environment where there is no conventional power outlet. It acts as a buffer and it is this buffer that powers the drone.
There is a new standard: USB-C.
The new “light” drones are newly equipped with this port and can be charged using this unique cable…
The DJI Mini 2 drone has many innovations, such as 4K video definition. But the biggest innovation in our opinion is the ability to charge it quickly and directly in 5V thanks to its new USB-C port, included both on the drone’s battery (directly or via the charging hub) and on the remote control.
The more powerful (and efficient) the panel, the faster you will charge your battery and therefore your laptop.
The big advantage is the total weight of this new 5V kit, the PT Flap11 + PT 20.000 being only 700g!
If you opt for the more versatile PT111 and Multi-hub (3 USB ports + 1 DC 5521 9 to 20V port) you will need at least one 12V generating panel to charge it, either a PT Flap 16 Dual Output or a PTFlap 21 Triple Output.
1Kg of charge will allow you to charge absolutely everything with solar power… that’s why these solutions are called Ultralight Solar Charging Stations.
Perfect for adventurers who go on a total autonomy trip for several weeks, these panels have the following advantages
1) integrate a MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracker)
2) operate in 5V and 12V, thus offering a wider range of charging capacities, especially for traditional photo/video
3) able to charge a PT111 battery which embeds a USB-C and thus will allow to charge everything : Drone, as laptop or Mac while roaming…
