GR 21 in Normandy – from Fécamp to Étretat
For a little warm-up, discover the Seine-Maritime region and the wild beauty of Normandy’s cliffs.
Departure from Fécamp. If you feel like exploring the town, don’t hesitate to visit the Church of Saint-Etienne or the Benedictine monastery, architectural jewels in their own right (but don’t sample the precious nectar before setting off on your hike). Climb the Côte de la Vierge for a breathtaking view of the whole of Fécamp. On a clear day, you can even see the tip of Étretat!
As the path is mostly flat, this hike is accessible to beginners. However, beware of the steep gradient. You’ll move between lush Normandy countryside and sea views. The cliffs are breathtaking. Just be careful not to get too close.
After around twenty kilometers, you’ll finally arrive at your destination: Étretat and its pebble beach dominated by the famous white chalk cliffs. Let the beauty and grandeur of these Normandy landscapes intoxicate you. You’ve earned yourself a snack on the harbour terrace, or why not take a dip in the sea at this famous seaside resort.
The GR 49 in the Var – from Saint-Raphaël to Rougon
Head south for a hike of almost 100 km.
Over several days, you’ll follow paths from Saint-Raphaël (Var) to Rougon (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence).
Intermediate in difficulty, this hike is still accessible. The main difficulty lies in the region’s hot, dry climate. We strongly advise you to plan this hike for spring or late summer, to avoid the heat. Arm yourself with bottles of water, food and sun cream, and let yourself be guided by the intoxicating song of the cicadas.
Departure from Saint-Raphaël train station. On this hike, get ready for magnificent panoramic views of the Bay of Cannes, the Esterel Corniche and the Lérins Islands. You’ll pass through picturesque villages such as Tourrettes and Mons, the highest village in the Canton of Fayence.
The GR49 passes at the foot of the Lachens mountain and eventually enters the Parc Naturel Régional du Verdon. You’ll follow the Jabron river to reach the village of Trigance. After passing over the Grand Cayon and the Tusset bridge, you’ll finally reach your destination in the village of Rougon.
The GR 49 not only offers beautiful scenery, but also the chance to discover some pretty Provencal villages.
The GR20 Corsica – From North to South, needing for sure a solar battery charger !
Finally, the famous GR20.
Renowned as one of the most difficult trails in Europe, the GR20 crosses Corsica over 200km. It takes around a fortnight to complete this hike/adventure. Of course, you’ll need to prepare your stages well, and be ready to face some difficult, even steep passages. This mountain trail is for trained people in good physical condition.
But… your efforts will be rewarded by the beauty of the Corsican landscape. The trail starts in Calenzana. Over the course of several days, you’ll have the chance to take in incredible panoramas and move between different types of vegetation (forest, scrubland).
The Cirque de la Solitude, often snow-covered even in July, is a real thrill. You’ll discover Lake Nino, surrounded by grass. So many magnificent landscapes on the same trail that you’ll almost forget how difficult the hike is.
At the end of the 16 days, you’ll end up with a few aches and pains, certainly blisters. But that’s nothing compared to the images and memories that will stay with you forever.
Whether you’re on a short or long hike, a solar battery charger is key !
